Don't Ask, Tell Anyway?

Umm, did Michael Musto of the Village Voice just accidentally out Anderson Cooper on Keith Olbermann's show? It was an offhand joke about Lameass Prejean, but still... whenever I offhandedly mention Cooper's homosexuality, people are always shocked. Then I hit them with the one-two punch that he's Gloria Vanderbilt's son. Yep, it's true!

But I digress. What I do think is that if we had a mass coming-out day in which every closeted famous or famous-ish or, well, everyone just came the fuck out, a whole lot of homophobes would have to think again about their alliances. Just sayin'.

Obama in Ghana

Watching the coverage of the Obamas in Ghana is absolutely amazing. Make sure you take a minute to look at photos or video:

CNN Video

Wow - Obama's speech to the people, he and Michelle visiting an old slave trading post (Michelle's ancestors were slaves) -- first time since the election that Obama as an African-American president has really resonated. I'm vowing to visit Cape Coast someday.

The size and the energy of the crowds is unbelievable. What foreign president has ever inspired such enthusiasm?

Aww, Malia and Sasha AND Mrs. Robinson are there too!

Kudos to CNN for putting particularly gorgeous reporters on the story, making it that much more watchable: Anderson Cooper, Suzanne Malveau, more. What? I'm just saying.

Post-Obama Kegger at ASU!!!

Luckily stumbled upon Obama's ASU commencement speech post-L&O on CNN.

Obvs an awesome speech, I'd say the theme was personal responsibility and a charge to not judge your life's success by selfish pursuits, but by your body of work, which can affect others in many positive ways. Anderson Cooper made a good point that he took the [stupid] controversy about the fact that ASU didn't give him an honorary degree and turned it on its head by pointing out that his own work is far from done; that the title of POTUS isn't an excuse to not leave a legacy.

Thanks to Irene for finding the link to the full transcript.
